Shark Project instalation

Central Coast Marine Discovery Centre (CCMDC) at Terrigal has confirmed that there is $500.00 in prizes for the Shark Project installations.

With $200 in timber, $200 in metal and $100 in saw sharpening the prizes are relevant to Men’s Sheds and worth the effort of building a Shark Installation for the competition.

With a majority of sheds committed to install their Shark Projects before  the Christmas Holidays, the competition will be fierce. If your shed chooses to make a second entry you will have to let CCMDC know.

Chris has asked those sheds with installations, that have not as yet spoken with him, to make contact. He will be in the office on Wednesday 11 Dec 2012 and can be contacted at the office on 4349 4756. He would encourage you to come and discuss the location of the installation to secure the best place to display your entry.

The Shark Projects can be installed 19-21 December, for the commencement of the December School Holiday period. Please contact Chris prior to this date to ensure that staff are available to assist with the Centre requirements.

The auction of the Shark Project Installations will most likely by silent auction during the period of the School Holidays.

Good luck to all entrants.

Red Coats and Muskets in Umina Beach

The Historic NSW Corp of Marines marched into the Peninsula Retirement Village and took over in their usual fiesty and friendly manner.

The event was organised by the Umina Beach Men's Shed in conjunction with the Toolbox Talks program.John Walker, from Men's Sheds Central Coast has developed a relationship with many community presenters to attend groups and sheds to provide information and entertainment.

When approached by the Umina Beach Men's Shed and the Peninsula Retirment Village, John did not hesitate to expedite arrangements for a day of colourful red coats, noisy muskets and historical humour.

Nine red coats from, what is affectionately called, the Rum Corp turned up for a Sunday morning and marched on display for the 80 strong crowd from the the Men's Shed and the Peninsula Retirement Village.

This was a very successful event and congratulations to all involved.

Santa's Big Shave

Santa gets a Big Shave
for a very good reason.

Roy Webb has represented Santa to the kids on the Central Coast for 23 years and will retire his red suit, snowy beard and long flowing hair after celebrating Christmas this year.

Emily
Not one to go quietly, Roy has decided to make one last gift to a very deserving young lady right here on the Central Coast. Roy is fundraising for Emily Shackleton.

Emily has a genetic predisposition to grow tumors. This is a rare medical condition and her tumours (phaeochromocytoma) have required Emily to have multiple surgeries. The recurrence of this condition now means that, at just 15 years, she has active tumours in her hip, rib and spine. [certified by Dr Therese Cox, Jetty Medical Centre October 2012].

Roy will be representing Santa at two fundraising events at The Greens during December on Sunday 9th and Saturday 15th, in the lead-up to the Santa’s Big Shave.
Roy
The Big Shave event will take place at 6.30 pm on Saturday 11th January 2013 inside the local club  Diggers @ the entrance where Santa plans to drive up on a scooter and have his entire beard and long flowing hair shaved by Emily. Santa’s hair will be auctioned as part of the fundraising activities on the night.

Roy Webb is also President of The Entrance Men’s Shed and can be contacted during Shed Open times on 4332 1023 or by email on temensshed@gmail.com.
