Bob Ihlein, President of The Entrance Men's Shed has been a pensions officer of the RSL Sub-branch at The Entrance for a number of years. He could see that other pensions and welfare officers needed some up to date information about Mens Sheds, their aims, facilities and programs.
He arranged for a presentation to the group at the Ourimbah RSL at the regular monthly meeting of the Pensions Officers of the Central Coast. With the new Shed Banners coming online he allowed enough time for their development and delivery and brought the whole show together for Friday, 11 May.
Bob and Kim displayed the MScci banners and some of the individual shed banners still on hand and presented the current status of Men's Sheds on the Central Coast. There was a strong response from the group as they became more aware that the role of sheds addressses many similar objectives to the social side of their welfare work.
The Pensions and Welfare office were keen to book the Mobile Mens Shed for their family event on 28 October and have their own projects for engagement with kids, vets and their families.
The group also asked many questions about how to engage with Men's Sheds, support the aims of sheds and better provide for socialisation of Veterans at various stages of socialisation.
