Independent Director for AMSA Board
Independent Director for AMSA Board
To the Shed Coordinator,
The current developments and the rapid growth in membership have added extra responsibilities on the AMSA Board to monitor financial and legal compliance with their contracts. To improve this the Board has decided to appoint up to three Independent Directors who will be selected because they have specific skills, knowledge and experience to supplement the requirements of the Board which currently consists of six State Appointed Directors (one per State), an Independent Chairman and the Executive Officer.
We would like to fill these positions with qualified people who are already in the AMSA organisation or assisting Sheds.
These people may, or may not, have decided to take an active role in their local Shed or State committees but who would like the challenge and interest in developing the National Board and the rapidly increasing programs and activities that are now involving the Men's Sheds movement.
The first appointment requires someone with a legal background and the details of the position are given below. If you have a Shed member (or someone closely involved with your Shed) who you feel has the necessary skills and experience and may be interested in this position would you please pass on the attached information for them to consider. They can contact me if they have any queries or post the information to the AMSA office.
The closing date for applications is Friday 27th April.
Best Regards,
Ted Donnelly - Chairman, AMSA

INDEPENDENT DIRECTOR FOR AMSA BOARD
The Australian Men's Shed Association (AMSA) is the peak body for Men's Sheds and has over 700 member Sheds comprising approximately 80,000 men and this number is increasing rapidly.

The Federal Government has recognised the values involved in Men's Sheds and is using AMSA to deliver some of its programs, particularly relating to men's health. This has added extra responsibilities on the Board to monitor financial and legal compliance with their contracts.
Currently the AMSA Board consists of six State Appointed Directors, an Independent Chairman and the Executive Officer.

Work benches
Hi Shedders
Wyong Council has 2 work benches they wish to donate to a Shed, see a photo of the offerings attached.
They must be removed by March 22 and Bateau Bay has agreed to store them if a Shed wants to call and pick then up. If no Shed is interested then Council will look at other options for getting rid of them. To me they look in reasonable condition so if you were planning to add additional work places to your Shed here ids your chance.
First in wins a bench or two!

Moree Men's Shed Tool Collection
Hi Shedders
Some weeks ago I sent out a plea for tools and equipment to help restore the Moree Shed after it had been flooded twice in a couple of months
I was in the AMSA office today and found out that the tools/equipment being collected for the Moree Shed to help them get back on their feet will be uplifted and transported on Friday morning.
I have been able to arrange for a bulk collection on Thursday morning so that we don't have to pack any donations up and deliver them to the Windale Shed which is 'collection central'
If you have the items tools or items of equipment that are in reasonable condition and are excess to requirements I'm sure they would be gratefully accepted by those Sheds devastated by the floods. Bateau Bay Shed has agreed to accept any items ready for collection on Thursday morning and I can be contacted at any time until then and I will make myself available to be at the Shed to open up and take in your donations.
You can contact me on 0423147326 to arrange delivery or simply deliver your donations during our Shed opening hours from 9 until about 3.30 on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
I also intend making a list of Sheds that donate items and send them off with our equipment.
Thanks for your support.

ClubGRANTS – the new name for CDSE – is now open and there is an important change - we no longer accept hard copy applications.

This means that all applications to Wyong Shire Local Committee must be submitted electronically through this system and no hard copies can be accepted.
Please note the Committee – through Council - only accepts Category 1 applications of $5,000 and over – for applications under $5,000 and Category 2 please contact your local club.
Not all individual clubs will be using the online system so please check with your club before you submit an application.
Application forms are available on Council’s website at http://clubgrants-wyong-shire-council.smartygrants.com.au/

Elermore Vale Men's Shed
My name is Bill Ray and I am a new member of Elermore Vale Men's Shed. Just sending you a note to let you know we have a new blog site. I am keen to promote Men's Sheds online, so I build blog sites for other Men's Sheds. Your site looks very good, there appears to be a lot of Men's Sheds on a national level, that don't have any online services.
