Dads Day Out planning

The Dads Day Out Planning group currently meet every fortnight to ensure all is ready for the event on 19 June 2011.

Will Branford from San Remo Men's Shed attended the meeting today as the Shed members have been invited to provide the Bar-B-Que for the event as a fundraiser.

Men's Sheds will also be represented by the Mobile Mens Shed with community engagement activities for kids and parents building tissue boxes.

Good to see Tim Keough from the Benevolent Society at the meeting today. This meeting and event are strongly supported by Chris Krough, Keep them Safe, Anna Dowley from San Remo Neighbourhood Centre, Seanne from the Kanwal Family Centre, Lorna Doona from Dept of Housing and Margo Castles, Burnside and the Local Bowling Club.

The END of FINANCIAL YEAR
is almost upon us so
Volunteering Central Coast

This workshop has been developed to give treasurers a clearer understanding of their role in the end of financial year process. It is also uselful for  committee/ board members  or  those who support the treasurer in their role such as managers, administration workers and bookkeepers so they can be aware of what is required by the treasurer.

Congratulations to the Cluster Blog

The Cluster Blog here has just clicked over 2000 page views today.

With an ongoing effort to have news, stories, future events and all things Shed, the blog has only had a strong focus for three months.  We are averaging about 600 page views per month which is a substantial audience.

Thanks to all those looking at the stories and events. There are lots more to come.

Don't hestiate to send in a photo or story about your shed or an upcoming event at your shed. There are plenty of readers interested in Men's Sheds, Mens Health and men working in the community to make a change.

Shed Roundup - April 2011

The Central Coast Shed Cluster Inc Committee meeting includes a Shed Roundup where where sheds get to brag, beg, ask and exchange information and news about their sheds. Here are some of the comments from todays meeting at the Kincumber Men's Shed.......

  • Wyong Men’s Shed
Committee met today with 10 strongly interested members keen to progress the development the Wyong Shed. The Committee is seeking quotations from builders and shed suppliers to ensure Development Application is placed with council as soon as possible to ensure receipt of grant funds. Committee is developing a logo and has a new shed email address ..
  • 2322 Men’s Shed
Shed now has 24 financial members and will hold its AGM at the end of this month. Following their successful exhibit at the Mens Shed Expo at Maitland Town hall, the shed received 5 additional memberships.

  • Kincumber Men’s Shed
A new spray booth has been erected in front of the shed. This was necessary to ensure spray and fumes are kept out the shed. The shed has 30 members regularly attending the shed on most days.

  • Peninsula Men’s Shed
Had a very successful outing at the Link Day supported by Interelate Family Services. The shed is  planning an Official Opening. The members have mainly been making toys for the local fete this weekend where they plan to use the Mobile Men’s Shed to promote the shed. The shed has a growing and enthusiastic membership. The shed now has carpet in the meeting and TV room, an added comfort ready for the coming winter months .

  • Bateau Bay Men’s Shed
Construction on the awning on the eastern end of the shed was to commence today, however rain has caused some delays. The extension awning has been funded by a Community Partnership Grant. Bateau Bay Men’s Shed Inc will hold a Special General Meeting in the shed on the 24th May to amend the constitution.  A social bar-b-que was held last Thursday which saw the final consumption of remaining supplies from the Seniors Week open days.

  • Swansea Men’s Shed
The committee has applied or additional CDSE funding. The sheds has done some pre-DA work for the slab for the shed. This is being supported by funding from the Community Builders Development Grant. The shed is holding a Barefoot Bowls day at Swansea Workers Club. Gary Edwards the new Member of Parliament is supportive of the Men’s Shed. Tomorrow, members are painting the ceiling of the restored Tourist Information Centre building for the 4th time. Shedders are working with the Blacksmiths Primary School on a cubby house. Members are also working on a diorama for the local High School. A 16ft catamaran is still available for any shed or community group that is interested, trailer is required to move it.

  • Gosford Men’s Shed
Attendance is running at about 30-33 men each day the shed is open. Members are working on a luggage trolley for Camp Kariong. The construction of possum boxes continues to fulfil the order of 200 for the RTA. Another interesting project at the Gosford Shed is backing plates for leadlighting, always a new idea.
